Bodfinks / Bogfinks

Another few months pass, there's a brief exchange of emails, and finally we have it - the full story of the Farnhill-based group: Bogfinks.

The group were active from the mid-late 60s into the 1970s. They played widely throughout Yorkshire, including gigs as far afield as Halifax and Wakefield.

The group members have been identified:

  • The lad with the glasses on the right is Ray Elrick, sometimes known as Fred because of a passing resemblance to Freddy Garrity of Freddie and the Dreamers.
  • Drummer is Andrew Garvey; he originally lived at 29 Starkey Lane, and subsequently in Steeton.
  • Middle: David Barret from Crosshills, who was known as Batman.
  • Far left on guitar is Brian Wakefield, who lived at 25 Newby Road. He later lived in Barnoldswick.

It appears that Brian Wakefield acted as the group's manager. Here's their business card:

That's probably all there is to say about Bogfinks. Unless there's anyone out there who can tell us more ? If so please email history@farnhill.co.uk.
